TMU hosts National Regional Conference on the Challenges and Prospects for Aquaculture Development in the Caspian Sea Region


The National Regional Conference on Aquaculture Development in the Caspian Sea Region was held on November 14th at the Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences.

With the aim of boosting interaction among the executive directors of the country and academics and supporting the Scientific Community of Fisheries, this conference which was attended by experts, interested individuals, the officials of Iran Fisheries Organization, the Fisheries Research Institute, the private sector, and the financial support of Aras Pharmaceutical Company was held at TMU’s Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences.

At this one-day conference, Dr. Abdolhi, Deputy Director of Fisheries Organization, Dr. Seyed Mortazaee, Deputy Director of the National Institute for Fisheries Research Center, Dr. Riahi, the Dean of Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences, Dr. Abedian Kanari, the head of Fisheries Engineering Department and Dr. Mokhtari, Deputy Director of the Office for Improving Quality and Processing of Aquatic Resources of the Iranian Fisheries Organization, delivered a speech on the current status and future of aquaculture development in the north of the Iran, the role and programs of fisheries research in the development of aquaculture in the Caspian Region, sustainable aquaculture development and environmental issues, achievements in the development of the aquaculture industry and the marketing and export of aquaculture products.

This conference ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Iranian Fisheries Organization and Tarbiat Modares University.
