TMU and Pakistan Universities Plan To Exchange Researchers


At the joint meeting with the scientific and cultural attaché of the Embassy of Pakistan in Iran with the directors of TMU’s International Unit and its International Scientific Cooperation Office, which was held on 12th of September, two sides stressed the need to expand scientific cooperation by enhancing the exchange of researchers.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Saeedi, director of the Office of International Collaboration of the University, introduced the university's fields of study, its educational and research activities and facilities and also its determination to promote its world rank to become among the top 200 universities.

In the following, Dr. Shojaossadati, the director of the International Unit, said that only 11 Pakistani Students have graduated from this university in the past and there is only 1 student studying here, a figure which due to the close cultural ties between the two countries, is not acceptable, he suggested that to increase the number, increasing scientific cooperation and the exchange of teacher and students should be given priority.

In another part of this joint meeting, Mr. Lal Dosani, the scientific and cultural attaché to the Embassy of Pakistan, said: “Tarbiat Modares University is a university of high academic rank Presently 300 Pakistani students are studying at various universities in Tehran, and if they learn about TMU’s educational facilities, they will surely choose this university to other Iranian universities”. He added.

Dr. Saeedi continued to emphasize the need for increased scientific cooperation in specific fields and the introduction of attractive fields for study and research beyond the signing of the memorandum of understanding and he also explained the types of scholarships provided by the University and the Ministry of Science for international students.

Dr. Zamir, deputy of the International Unit, also talked about the possibility of offering master and Ph.D. programs in English for international students studying at Tarbiat Modares University.

The Pakistani Embassy's Scientific and Cultural Attaché also proposed making use of his embassy’s potentials as a means to introduce TMU’s fields of study and its facilities to Pakistani applicants.
